Invites
Friends should not need your IP address or your router's settings to join you. An invite code is eight letters they type into the client's connect box instead of an address.
Making an invite
- Start your world in the launcher.
- Open the Invite tab and press New invite.
- Share the code (or the
mmorun://join/...link). It lasts seven days.
Revoke stops a code working; press New invite whenever you want a fresh one.
How friends connect
When a friend types the code, their client looks it up and tries your address directly. If your router does not let them in, they are switched to the MMO Run relay a few seconds later, automatically. Nobody configures anything.
| Direct | Through the relay | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Your router forwards UDP port 27015 to your PC | None |
| Speed | Best | A little more delay, bandwidth capped per player |
| Works on mobile data | Yes | Yes |
The launcher's Check reachability button tells you whether friends can reach you directly. If they cannot and you want the best connection, forward UDP port 27015 on your router to the computer running the world. Your router's admin page calls it Port Forwarding or Virtual Server.
Playing on the same network
Friends in your house do not need a code: they connect to the LAN address shown at the top of the Invite tab, such as 192.168.1.20:27015.
What the relay knows
The relay only passes traffic along. It stores invite codes, addresses and byte counts, and nothing about your world, your players or their accounts. Those stay in your world folder.
